i'm a about to be a sophomore and haven't taken any of my premed science courses yet (i have taken calc and stats)....becuase i did not decide on premed untill recently.

my question is are there any books that would allow me to study for the mcat as i go along these next 2 years...maybe that follow a course by course format so i could study bio when i'm in bio and physics when i'm in physics etc...

thanks for your help

since you havent taken the requirements yet, you dont have anything to review. Since you are worried about it way early in the game, the best thing that you can do is to really pay attention in your pre-med courses and make sure that you are understanding the material, not just knowing it good enough to score well on the tests and then forgetting it the next day. If you put in the work now to understand all your bio, chem, phys, and orgo classes, then your mcat prep will be pretty easy and will truly be a review, rather than a rush to re-teach yourself all the important stuff. So relax and get your courses over with, or at least the majority of them over with, and then worry about studying for the mcat.. maybe 6 months before the actual exam date or so! good luck

I agree with OSAR and his advice is sound. As for what books to study for, there are basically none besides your text. Know everything in and out and make flashcards if that helps. Also, take VERYVERYVERYVERYVERYVERYVERYVERY good notes because you will want to use them for the MCATS later on. I just finished all my pre-reqs (bio and chem in fresh year/ orgo and physics in sophomore year), so I can understand what you're getting yourself into. Hope this helps.

If you really want to start preparation start with the basic science classes. The best MCAT prep classes to take before you actually take the test are definitely Biochemistry and Physiology, so make time for them in your schedule.
