I'm a reapplicant and I'm retaking dat at the end of july. If I submit aadsas TODAY with my previous dat scores and let them know that I will be retaking it in july, would I get early rejections if my previous scores weren't competitive (my TS 19, AA 18, PAT 17)? Oh, also I won't be sending my official scores until I retake the dat at the end of July.

So I guess my question is, can I get early rejections based on the first score in the case that schools won't have the official scores until I retake it at the end of july?

Thanks!

Is it possible to submit your application but leave the DAT score section blank? Maybe if you do that you can still get your app in early but not have you DAT scores sent until you have your new ones? Just a thought

I was thinking about that but on this year's application, I indicated that I applied last year so obviously I took the DAT and if I send the official scores for the second DAT, what if the adcoms are like... "why wasn't the first score written on the application." I don't know what is the best idea not to get an early rejection... 🙁

I am guessing they will wait for your July scores.

I thought admission committees would hold off reviewing your application until your July scores arrived. When you send a score report, both your scores (1st and 2nd scores) will be made available, so I would put down your current scores and indicate you will be taking a future DAT.

ADCOMs aren't robots, they will most likely defer a decision on your application if you indicate you are going to retake.

This will not count as an early app. The app will not be considered complete until DAT scores are in. Send it in now with the old scores, noting that you're planning to retake. If you did happen to get an 'early rejection' (schools do that?) I'm sure you can call the adcom and remind them you're sending them new scores and they will take another look.

OK, today I learned a pretty interesting thing. I called the schools I am reapplying to and they said they will keep my scores on file for three years and I won't even have to re-request my official scores and re-pay $25 for each school. USC is one of the schools that don't keep scores on file and you would have to resend them. Basically, if you are re-applying to the same schools as last year, they will have access to your old scores. My suggestion would be to call the schools or send them an email and request to put a hold on your application until they receive your second DAT scores.

No school will reject you if you indicate you're taking the DAT again in July until after they see your new scores. For the record, if you submit your app today, the schools won't receive them until mid to late July anyways...

The earliest time schools will start receiving your application from AADSAS is somewhere between mid to late July. After receiving your application, they'll start reviewing it, and by early-mid August they will start sending out e-mails for secondary applications. Note, that there's gonna be a period of about 1 month (if not more) between the time they start requesting secondary applications and the time they will start preparing to review them. Since the earliest interviews will be scheduled during October, you have about 4 months, before the admission committee starts making any serious decisions about your file. So, I believe you have more than enough time to retake your DAT and send your score to your designated schools, without the risk of an early rejection!

That timeline is a bit off... most schools start interviewing in August or September

Sorry! I wasn't going to look at the AADSAS calendar just to make a post on this thread. My point was to let him know that he/she will be OK even if he/she takes his/her DAT then. I wasn't planing on writing down the time line day by day!
