Hey guys,
So this has been bugging me for past few weeks. I submitted a bunch of my apps in September. At this point in the cycle, is there any difference between comparable apps if one was submitted early (like June) versus one submitted later (like September)? Or are they pretty much on equal footing right now since adcoms are (presumably) now comparing across the entire pool of applicants? Or do they actually read the apps in the order in which they receive them? Just wondering!! (Sorry for the neuroticism/being a potential catalyst for rampant speculation) 😕

They probably go loosely in order, but I'm sure competitive applications get looked at sooner, just look at some of the turnover times in the school-specific threads. Some people get II within a week or two of completion and others get put on hold for months.

It depends. If you haven't heard back from them despite applying early, you're worse off cuz you were not good enough to receive an interview even though you have been reviewed. Applying early gives u advantage cuz you will get considered earlier and thus have a better chance of acceptance after interview. Also it will give u a beter chance to get an interview. If not, you've been passed. If you submitted in September, you're probably being reviewed now. So you'll have to wait more for a decision.in conclusion, applying early gives u better chance. Comparing yourself to those already been waiting for 3 months, ur better off cuz they're still reviewing u.

Varies widely from school to school
