Looking for any online sources + any specific recommendations for super easy online courses. Preferably courses without any in-person written exams.

Basically anything that can be finished fast and would result in an A with minimal effort.

Thanks guys!

To give you direct advice we would have to know what school you go to as this will vary wildly.

RateMyProfessor.com is your friend. Use it.
well with online courses you can just take them anywhere so...

Don't you think it might be even slightly transparent to adcoms that you are taking these classes for an easy GPA boost?
its for DO schools... so shouldn't be an issue when they allow grade replacement

Okay so any specific experiences with biochemistry courses that are online?

This plan seems foolish...

I wouldn't say that.

A significant number of people on these forums have successfully used an online biochemistry course to meet requirements. Of course, random disclaimer for OP: some schools don't like online courses, so your YMMV.

Search SDN. You'll find the threads easily enough.

I look forward to having a doctor with this attitude
Right... cause a 50 year old doctor that sees you now had to even jump through 1/100th of the hoops that we have to jump through in this generation. 🙄 I'm sure 4 years of rigorous undergrad courses, the mcat, endless volunteering, ECs, shadowing, chasing LOR writers, writing secondary essays, going to interviews while taking 6 courses, getting As in classes where the average is a D, does nothing to speak about my attitude. But wanting to boost my GPA up a little to get to the level says so much about my attitude, right ??

Shortcuts are never the answer. Especially in a profession founded on ethics.

If you need a GPA boost, take some time off, take post-bacc classes, and apply when you have your best application.

And give AdComs some credit...chances are, they will quickly see through your plan. I doubt it will benefit you as much as you think it will.

IMO

Apparently you get 0 credit for hard courses but you get points taken off for easier ones?

No, but this post kinda said it all.

Yes, things are more competitive than they have been in the past. If you have a bad attitude, it doesn't matter what generation you are from.

We sure will!

So are you looking for grade replacement courses? I think DO schools would see right through your plan as easily as MD schools will.

You get 0 credit only if you do poorly in them. You get points off for not the easier ones, but bnulking up on the easier ones, or looking like you're trying to avoid taking the hard ones.

We're doing you a favor, y'know. Medical school is a LOT harder than anything you're dealing with now, so we're just trying to spare you from failing out. If you want a seat in med school, you have to earn it. Showing us that you can survive a rigorous curriculum is the way to do that.

Online courses in the sciences are especially not recommended.

Stop whining were all going/have been through the same struggle. Komorebi2 is right if you really want to boost your gpa then go post-bacc or impress them with your MCAT score, extracurriculars... They'll sniff this out right away after all it is kinda their job!!! And what does it matter that you're applying DO, honestly even if you got to the interview something tells me you would'nt do so hot!

Medical school admissions espouses deontological ethics but rewards the consequentialists.

OP, go ahead and boost your GPA. Though community college would probably be better.

Isnt that the case for courses where the material is new? If it's a retake then it shouldn't be an issue?

the fact that you have to retake shows that you didn't fully get the material the first time around, so your attempt to find easy ways around that dilemma will be transparent, and in a bad way. I would know because I've retaken many courses to up my GPA bc I didn't work hard at all my first couple of years. taking easy online courses to boost poor grades won't look good. I'd suggest finding a cheap state school nearby for retakes, or community college at worst (though not the best option IMO, it would suffice in most cases). I've been through it, and would be glad to help if you have any questions.

im not in absolute need at this very moment, just planning ahead... I definitely did understand the material but due to abnormally difficult midterms/exams + a super low class average I ended up with lower than expected grades.

I've experienced this in classes too. unfortunately it's part of the game and you have to find ways around it. ratemyprofessor is a godsend, and once you decide where you're doing retakes, use it religiously. many of us go through this, and though it sucks, you'll find a good way to reach your goal without Devry classes.

How low? Did you get a C-? D? F? If you got any of those then you will need to retake. If it was a B- or even a C and you have a solid GPA then don't even waste your time or money trying replace one bad grade.

DO admissions committees have a copy of your transcript and can see where you took these courses. They aren't dumb and will take note that you replaced a hard science course with an online one with "no in-person exams" (AKA can stay at home, open up your iphone or ipad, and cheat your way to an 100%).

Taking the easy way out is an immediate red flag to adcom and a warning sign that you might feel comfortable doing the same in the future when you're a physician, potentially hurting or killing a patient because of your willingness to cut corners for YOUR own comfort.

Dont think a transcript indicates "no in person exams" ...

But a transcript will state WHERE you took that course. If they see that you took it at podunk university and get an A after you screwed up at an actual university receiving an F, you honestly think that won't raise eyebrows? They'd probably wonder why you didn't retake it at normal university.

Look I'm just giving you my two cents and so have the rest of the users here. Since you keep defending the fact that you wanna squeeze your way to an A even if it means taking the easy way out then go for it.

They use online proctoring for the "no in person exam"-type of students like yourself.
