Hey guys,

I wanted to put together a list of transitional years that were considered reletively easy to be accepted to. Let me know if you can think of any.

I'm not sure that any of them are "easy", simply because the folks that are applying for those spots are often med school rockstars (or maybe not, but lots of RadOnc, Rads, Ophtho, Derm folks). But you already know that.

To start your list, you can look at United Health Services/Wilson Hospital TY program in Binghamton NY. You've got a perfect storm of why many folks might not rank it too highly: it's not in the world's most desireable location, and the workload is decidedly not supercush. But it may be easier to get into, they only interview a small number (so if you get an invite, you've got a great shot), they pay well, and they provide housing for dirt cheap.

As mentioned, the folks going into the most competitive fields shop around for the most life-friendly TY programs, and as such, the better TYs will be the most competitive slots in the match, since they get to pick from the best of the most competitive specialties. By contrast, if a TY is truly "easy" to get, (and there reported may be a few), that should be a good hint that although they are calling it TY, it is going to be anything but cushy. Probably awful hours and location and youd be better off doing a prelim.
