I'm really in a little predicament.

I'm really involved at school, including being an RA, president of a student organization, and in AED. I'm really crammed for time but really want to keep up the hospital volunteering, add in some research, and join diversity council.

however, I also am taking physics (which i suck at) and physio in the fall, plus a load of other classes which aren't as intense, but it adds up.

what do you think is best to add in/keep?

  • volunteering, which i could care less for and have 3 semesters of (probably only about 50-60 hours total).
  • research, I don't have any of this yet, so i'm pretty much guessing this is the best choice.
  • diversity council, i've always wanted to join... just short on time
i'd really appreciate some advice! Also, i just finished sophomore year and plan to apply right after junior year. Will be taking the MCAT in the spring. GPA is decent, can probably pull it up because i bombed freshman year

Do research only if you enjoy it and will get something out of it. Working as a lab monkey for a year does nothing on your application.

I feel people make the mistake in that they believe there's a checklist. aka: Ok I did research, did some shadowing, volunteered, gpa is good, mcat is good, I'm set and going to get in.
