Hi guys,

Can someone post an example of how he/she described research experience in the EC section? Did you go into background of project or just simply state what you did? Is this enough:

Optimized purification protocol for various recombinant proteins in BLAH pathway.

Did anyone put down things like "learned sterile technique" or is that just assumed with years of research experience?

Thanks!

Here's the description I wrote for a neurophys project I worked on during last summer....my main suggestion is to make your description brief, yet personalized (ie tell them a little about what you learned/gained from the experience). Just try not to make your experiences sound like they come from a brochure................

"The primary focus of the research project was to elucidate the mechanisms mediating the of neuroprotection of CNS tissues to ischemia by a process known as preconditioning. The use of hypoxic, ischemic, and heat-insult were used to activate endogenous protective mechanisms in mice. I acquired proficiency in a wide variety of laboratory techniques, ranging from surgery and physiologic control of animal models of cerebral ischemia, to molecular analysis of the consequences of cerebral ischemia."

I used what I had written on my resume for my projects--- basically what Felipe wrote.
