Ok so freshman year, and part of sophomore year, I was still pre-med. So I was in this club called Minority Associal of Premedical Students. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to put this on my pharmcas or not? I'm kinda afraid it will look bad b/c its premed and not pre pharm. But it was one of my main ECs, so I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

As a fellow applicant, I would put it down. My major EC is work experience at a bank - not even medical related. Besides, pharmacy is a medical field, is it not?

Just be prepared for the question, "why pharmacy and not medical doctor?" during your interview. The transition between premed and pharmacy actually would probably be a good topic for some of your personal statement. 😀

Did you do anything in this club besides go to meetings? Were you a leader in the club? If not I wouldn't bother with putting it on the application.

More like Minority Association of Pre-health Students, amirite? 😉 I don't think adcoms will care that you're in pre-med club if you can explain how it pertained to you as a pre-pharm.

Unless you can use it as a reference of experience on your application or during an interview then list it as an EC, however, if you just went to the club meetings and did absolutely nothing then I wouldn't bother mentioning it as an EC, because it's not really an EC if you didn't participate in any activities while in the club.

I was thinking the exact same thing. 😉

Thanks. I'll just put a good explanation on PharmCAS

Focus on the experiences and skills that could carry over to pharmacy and how that club experience helped you decide on pharmacy.
