I'm going through the Work/Experiences parts of the AMCAS and have a few quick questions:

One of my EC are my awards. I'm trying to file all of the awards under one experience but AMCAS requires a date that the award was given. My dilemma is that the awards were given at different times. What would you suggest to remedy the problem?

The same problem with dates applies to publications of mine. I have multiple publications published at different times but was wanting to put them all under one header. What suggesting would you people have for this?

Same problem for missionary trips at different dates.

Another problem I have is that I worked summers at a research position from summer 2000-2003. The way I have the dates listed are May 2000 through September 2003. I plan on mentioning in the description that the dates were during the summer. Would this be acceptable?

As for the descriptions, I'm providing less of a laundry list of what I did in each of activities (unless needed) and more of what I gained from the experience relating to the medical field (e.g. Was able to view doctor/patient interactions, witnessed processes involved in surgical procedures).

If you people could provide any help, I'd be much indebted.

P.S. Forums are very slow!

I, too have an EC question

If I win the Stanley Cup in NHL 2006 for playstation2, do i put just the date I won it or the dates of the entire season? Technically I spent an entire season earning the award...

Sarcasm duly noted.

Dirty: The way I've been dealing with multiple date issues is, for example, picking an award and filling in all the logistical stuff (date, name, etc) as if that's the only entry... then in the description I'm fleshing out the other ones... so think of one award or activity as the "in" for the category, then talk about the rest in the description. Of course, it probably behooves you to put the most "impressive" EC in the title and throw in the not-so-Nobel-worthy publications in the description...

Now, I have an EC question and refuse to start another EC thread. If I have shadowing experience that's just straight up shadowing (not volunteering + shadowing, as is often the case) does that go in the "other" category? I feel a little strange putting in the "volunteer" slot... considering I didn't offer any services, except like... looking up a code or grabbing a chart or something. Help appreciated.

Thanks for the insight for the awards problem.

So listing the best or most prominant in the title and using the date and then using it to promote the others is probably the best idea; this includes using this idea for mission trips done in different years

As for your own problem, you're still volunteering your own time so I would classify it as volunteer experience.
