I will be going into my junior year next year and applying next summer, so I would like to spend next year filling some of the holes in my application. Here are the EC's I have so far -

Volunteered both freshman and sophomore years as a tutor in a volunteer program which serves a housing project in downtown chicago - served as the coordinator sophomore year and will be doing it again next year - 6 hours/week

Spent one spring break on a volunteer trip in Memphis, spent the other one shadowing a doctor (40 hour week)

Am spending this summer volunteering at a local hospital in the Prosthetic and Orthotics Department - 20 hours/week. I will probably continue doing something like this once school starts, but probably only about 5 hours a week.

Have played intermural sports every semester - sand volleyball, indoor volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, etc. 2 hours/week.

I'll be working as a TA in one of the lab sections next year, and I hope to get involved in some kind of research next year. Also, I will be spending 8 weeks of my summer next year in South Dakota as part of my major. Would this be something to put on my EC's list or does it not count since it is required for my major?

Other than that, are there any major weaknesses in this area of my application? Thanks for your help.
