Hi guys,

I have ECs that are clubs that I'm involved in that also do community services, so should I listed as two different things for the club and the community service that I did, or just do one and total the hours?

Second question, what if I do community service on my all (not through school, or any club..), does that still count? And if it counts, it was a one day trip kinda service, then how would I listed under the "average weekly hour"?

Thanks.

You could do either- depends on how many ECs you have! If you have a lot to list, then lump the club activities together and state specifics in the description box. If you don't have many, list them separately with their respective hours.

Community service on your own definitely counts! Almost looks even better in my opinion, because it takes more initiative to get involved in your community outside of a school/club. If it was a one trip kind of thing, put the total hours as your "average weekly" and just state that it was a one day event in the description.

@quigz Thanks. What if I did the same thing, but in different year? How do I put it?

Sure thing! Say you volunteered at a community fair in 2013, 2014, 2015 for 8 hours each time:

Description: "Annual community fair. Assisted with ______"
Average Weekly Hours: 8
Total Hours: 24
Dates: 2013-2015

@quigz Wow. Thank you so much. While I'm on topic of it, is it ok if I just guesstimate the hours for ECs. Other like shadowing and work, I documented so I have the number. But for the clubs, and others, I didn't have clear number.

@Carbohydrates no problem 🙂 yep I think that's fine! Just try to be as accurate as possible, that's what I did. It was hard to be super accurate for a job I've had for four years!
