I'm worried about my ECs, are they at least decent?
I've shadowed 3-4 doctors over a long time
I've done homeless feedings
Volunteered at an eye clinic twice
Was apart about environmental organization for a semester
Research over the summer
Had a job at a retail store for a while
Starting clinical work next week
And planning on doing EMT training winter time
What can I add? I haven't done any leadership like roles

I heard they can be valuable if one has a lower gpa

why the EMT training?

I have always seen <4-month EMT experiences as suspicious.
Mind sharing your stats?

What do you mean suspicious?

3.3 sgpa and 3.55 cgpa
But I'm on upward trend and still have some more sciences left

What year are you? Unless you can volunteer/ work with the EMT there's very little point.

Junior
But in delaying a year to apply
Prob apply for fall 16'

Well, it seems like you have plenty of time so feel free to go for it. If you find work with it, it would be pretty great.

The only thing I find concerning about your EC's is that they don't seem to last very long. Quality and time commitment is more important than quantity. If you get deeply involved in 1-2 things, that is better than 5-6 things.

So my suggestion is, keep doing your clinical work for as long as possible. Why didn't you stick in the environmental club?

First, you want to change that gpa. Even if your ECs are splendid, a gpa may get you screened out before even starting.

I didn't like the environment club too much and That's when my grades went down so I used my time to concentrate more on classes

yeah I know
That's why I've delayed a year
To try and boost it higher
According to the classes I plan on taking I'm predicting around a 3.55/3.6 science and 3.65/3.7cgpa but one can never know
I'm taking physics II this semester got an 88 on the first exam , really bummed out:/

I think the best advice is probably the vaguest, find something your passionate about and dedicate yourself to making an impact on it.

Yep. As others have said, get really involved in a few good activities you enjoy. If you can bring and keep both GPAs to around 3.6, you should be alright. Good luck!

I'm going to try
I have to take 8 more science classes and get A s to get my science gpa to a 3.6

I'm in a similar position, however I'm throwing in a foreign language and a few writing classes. Assuming a B in physics I, I can go from a 3.43 to a 3.7 by the time I apply. Definitely take two or three extra courses if you can to give your GPA a boost.

How many sciences do you need to get there?

The funny thing which is not that funny is that I got 1C and 2 C+ In 3 science courses in one semester due to lack of focus and not studying all localized
That semester is catching up to me badly://

The cure for a poor GPA is a good GPA! A laundry list of commonly seen ECs isn't going to make up for a poor GPA or poor MCAT. Now if you start a non-profit organization, which ADCOMs still supposedly are impressed with, then that's another story. 😉

I have 2 Cs, one in a 3 credit algebra and another in 4 credit calculus. I feel like my GPA shouldn't be so low as 3.43 but apparently it is. I have about 7 upper division biology classes lined up with my other classes to get my GPA up to 3.7.
