Is it possible for you to apply early admission to your state's medical school and at the same time apply to DO schools? Or would that be in violation of the contract since you're not supposed to apply to any other medical schools?

your obviously not supposed to, but I imagine you could without any problems.

Is it that you are not allowed to apply to other schools, or that you have to withdraw your application to other schools if you are accepted?

Don't see how that would be an issue, other than I guess an ethical one. They are two different application services. The schools will never know.

+1

According to the AAMC website:
Early Decision Program (EDP)
To apply through the Early Decision Program (EDP), applicants must follow these guidelines:
- Apply to only one U.S. medical school by the stated deadline date (August 1 for schools that participate in AMCAS);
- Provide the school with all required supplemental information by the stated deadline date (August 1 for those schools that participate in AMCAS); and
- Attend only this school if offered a place under the EDP.

EDP regulations apply to both AMCAS and non-AMCAS participating schools.

For all practical purposes it's an unenforceable rule.

I was just wondering why ED and not fill out XX more applications to other schools to increase your odds at receiving an MD interview? And from what I know, you can do it without getting caught, since DO and MD schools have separate systems.

I think that serenade and TriagePreMed are the same person.

Who's with me?

You cannot apply to any other MD schools if you apply early decision to your state school. You MUST wait to apply to others in the AMCAS system until you've been rejected. That is why you better be a shoe-in and be planning to attend that school; if not, don't apply ED. You can however apply to DO schools in the meantime, as they are not AMCAS or "non-AMCAS" because they are not MD schools. The information is not shared, etc...

.....

You apparently think that I argue with myself a lot then...

Also is that a psuedopun based on the fact that his avatar is a cat and I said I was a curious kitty? -.-

Either way, I am lawling at the sheer amount of people who think I'm a gunner for asking this question. Honestly, I was just curious about it and if it is a legal option for students. I doubt I would do it because ED usually is not an effective way of landing an acceptance.

5,828 posts before applying to medschool. You're a gunner.

:meanie:

I don't think Triage and Serenade are the same at all... Completely different styles... unless one is the other personality that is unknown... Anyway, Serenade doesn't get into tons of fights with Ed... 😉

Anyway, Serenade, yeah, you can apply ED to the MD state school, and apply DO and no one will know besides you... 😉

I'm funnier than TriagePreMed. But anyways, thanks I just wanted to know if the ED application limit applied to both DO & MD schools, and it seems like while it only is enforced on the MD side it sounds like it could be unethical and dubious.

Also Ed?

I'm not really sure I see how applying ED to MD and also DO would justify someone being a gunner, but maybe I'm just missing something....? The post thing might earn you the title though 😉

I'm an addict. :laugh:

This thread is now about cats and lol-cats.

Ed=Edlongshanks...
Serenade, I wouldn't feel bad applying to an ED MD program and DO programs at the same time. I almost did it ED-DO and MD... just didn't have the stats...
