My post bacc program required me to take an mcat preparatory class that was worth 6 semester units. It was graded as satisfactory/unsatisfactory. the grade was determined strictly based on attendance. Due to a family emergency, I had to miss one week of class and as a result received an unsatisfactory grade on my transcript. I have tried to reason with the administration but to no avail.

I maintained a 4.0 gpa and I noticed that the unsatisfactory grade did not affect my gpa. However I am concerned that my application will be looked upon in a negative light for this grade, and lord knows the last thing I need is another reason for medical school to deny me an acceptance. How do you guys think this will affect my application?

Thanks for the input!

Your MCAT score will answer any question.

Every med school app secondary has a place to discuss any academic anomalies. You might want to mention it there.

Best of luck to you.
