Does anyone know how much weight the admissions people put on someones application if one of their parents attended Einstein? I received an interview invite today, and I'm in complete shock because my mcat score is very poor. My father attended Einstein, so I'm curious about this whole alumni factor.

Does it really make a difference? you got an interview thats great the way I see it it can only be a big plus.Getting into med school is tough enough if someone has an built in advantage it only makes sense to use it to the best of your ability. Good luck on the interview.

Just out of curiousity what was your mcat, b/c i applied with a low mcat too (28), and whats your GPA also...Thanks

I have a friend who goes to Einstein who got a 26 on the MCAT, and I know others who got in the high 30s. I've heard that Einstein places less emphasis on numbers than other schools, but who knows? But my friend with the 26 had a 3.9 GPA and stellar recommendations, interview, extracurriculars, etc.

I got in with a really high MCAT, but found that it doesn't really matter too much. Interview results tend to look more at personality than anything, I've found (and some of the people I know got in with weird interviews that in hindsight really went straight to their personality. So if you get a strange vibe off an interview, don't worry. I had a normal one, though).

My mcat is so low it is off the charts, so Im so curious how I got an interview. How much weight does the fact that my dad went to einstein have on their decision to give me this amazing opportunity?

Do you really care?? If you do then don't.....it will distract you...........

congratulations on your interview and prepare for it instead of thinking how you got the interview ........show them why they should take you....and if Dad is a factor ...so be it....

Yea your right, I'm going to do everything possible to get accepted into Einstein now. I just need to wait for the shock factor to diminish until I can start researching about the school.
