First, let me apologize for sounding like a broken record by bringing this up again. However, the test looms a mere four weeks away, and I am starting to feel the reality of the situation.

I have taken four of the EK verbal tests, scoring 9, 9, 11, 10. For those of you who used this book and have taken the MCAT, how do the two compare in difficulty? My goal all along has been an 11 on verbal, and I would like to know if I am getting there. What were you getting on EK verbal tests and what did you get on test day? Any other suggestions?

Best of luck to all of you studying. Just picture yourself in 29 days...that helps me focus and get through it. 😀

Sometimes I feel misguided by EK verbal strategy. They tell you not to go back to the passage if you don't finish and that your intuition and the main idea is important, etc. I agree that they're, but it's really hard to answer the detail questions without going back to the passage. Even EK Verbal 101 has annoyingly anal detail questions and I succumb into going back. What do you do???

take your three or four highests tests, average them, and then add a point to it. thats just a formula i pulled out of my ass, but i think that it would be somewhat accurate to predicting your actual VR score.

My three highest: 9, 10, 10 average: 9.67
Predicted by formula: 10.67
Actual MCAT: 11

🙂 worked for me

My three highest: 9, 10, 10.
Actual score: 12

I think that you're probably going to score no lower than your practice tests (assuming you don't panic) and at least one point higher.

Hope this helps.

You are not supposed to go back to the passage ONLY on the PRACTICE exams.

That way you're trained to use intuition. On the exam day, when you take the exam... you'll only go back to the passage when you know where to go and only when you have to.

I took test 4 untimed and got a 10, then took test 5 and 7 timed and got 6 and 7 respectively... Test 5 was pretty rough with all the political and humanity passages but my factor is obviously time. Have to read those passages faster because I took BOTH those test without going back.

when comparing Princeton verbal passages in their verbal workbook and EK 1o1 book I find the Ek the passages much easier to read. Which is more realistic EK or princeton.

How many verbal tests does TPR offer? Just curious.

They offer a lot of individual passages, and four full lengths just in verbal if you want. You take fiver full length diags so there is five more full lengths, and there are about 8 more full length diags you can take.

So total if you want to break the diags apart: About 40 passages in a practice book, plus around 17 full length tests.

I'm really confused because I took 3 TPR Diagnostics so far and score 6's on the verbal. Then, I did 4 EK tests and scored 8,8,9,10! Is EK more like the real MCAT? Also, I finish EK with about 5-10 minutes to spare. I am never able to finish the TPR tests. Any ideas why?
