EK Verbal 101 ISLAM PASSAGE

I lost my EK 101 verbal book and I remember reading a passage about Islam in it and how the Quran was originally in Hebrew.
My boyfriend told me he thinks the Quran was probably in Hebrew and I want to send him the article that was in the MCAT book.

Can someone with the book please find out what the passage says and the bottom and reply to this post so I can give him the article please??!!

I just need someone to look through EK 101 Verbal test 10 and search for the passage about Islam and then either type up a small exerpt from it verbatim or the author if there is one listed at the bottom of it

The author of the passage actually claims its a radical theory and claims that it is only beneficial to compare the ancient arabic used to the Aramaic language of the time rather than to modern arabic.

But suggesting to muslims that the Quran was originally Hebrew is like suggesting that modern Christianity(Catholicism?) actually evolved from paganism through Constantine's time.

Its malicious even if you believe it to be true.

From a quick skim of the passage, I think you might have misinterpreted or don't remember quiet right. Here is the quote that might have confused you:

"His work [Mr. Berlin, based on the earliest copies of the Koran, maintains that parts of Islam's holy book derived from pre-existing Christian Aramaic texts that were misinterpreted by later Islamic scholars who prepared editions of the Koran commonly read today."

I don't think this says anything about Kuran being written in Hebrew.

The actual content of any MCAT passage is irrelevant. The content are phrases, ideas, arguments, and relationships that you have to expose and connect, then answer questions from. Not only that, but you must know the order in which the author laid down the foundations of phrases, ideas, and arguments, and then connected them with relationships, and what the consequences of those arguments may be.

The Qur'an can't be in Hebrew. All it's 1st Islamic Century manuscripts exist in only Arabic. There were a couple of transitional texts from Yemen of people who spoke Hebrew translating the Qur'an from Arabic to Hebrew, but those died out quickly.

There's a hypothesis by a German researcher that the Arabic of the Qur'an may have some "Aramaic" words that have a slightly different meaning, but in my opinion, it's got to be one of the most stupid ideas I've heard on the subject. In particular, because Arabic, Aramaic and Hebrew are all derived from the same base language (what latin would be to Spanish, Italian and French)
