hey all,
what ekg books do you recommend? i want something that is easy to read. so far, i've heard of the dubin book and "the only ekg book you will ever need". any suggestions?

I second Dubin's.
lilly is good if you want a quick more superficial review and may be adequate for class depending on how deep your school goes into ECG.

I'm not sure about Dubin compared to other more recently published books but I used Dubin and loved it. My class used Stanley's EKG course; that in combination with Dubin was excellent.

During the summer when I was going through Dubins other doctors would see me reading it and ask if they could read it too. They remembered it from when they were in med school and wanted to brush up.

Besides the books they've talked about, I would add that knowing physiology of the heart is imperative; since forced memorization will eventually pass away, but retained concepts can be recalled easier. Thus, if you know the mechanisms of EKG and how disease processes change EKG recordings, it will be easier to interpret EKGs.

Dubin's starts with the physiology and moves on from there.

Here's what I posted about my experience with Dubin on another EKG book thread:

I'm just wrapping up a Cardio rotation and my attending swears by Dubin's Rapid Interpretation of EKG's.

In fact, he refused to even attempt to explain much about EKG's or let me attempt to read them until I finished the book.

The book is a quick easy read, I finished it over a weekend with numerous breaks to go to my alma mater's homecoming and help take a dock out as well as 10 hours of driving total.

It also has a great quick reference guide at the end to review.

By the time I finished the book, I was reading EKG's with about 80% accuracy including picking up an MI the pt didn't know he had endured.

Yup. Also a plastic surgeon and not a cardiologist, from what I recall.
