October/November through February.

The months you should take off or schedule easy electives depends on a number of factors. Like Buckeye said, interviews are anywhere from Oct-Feb.
1. Are you applying MD or DO? DO match is in early Feb and interviews tend to be Oct-Dec.
2. What specialty? Some more competitive places like to wait for the Dean's Letter, Nov 1 to even extend interview invitations.
3. What location? West coast typically interviews later Dec/Jan
