I need a little bit of advice. I need to pick my elective rotations and I'm not sure how to go about doing this. I have narrowed down the specialties I like into 4-Psyc., Medicine to eventually go into GI/Nuclear Med, Derm and Anesthesia. My question is: should I go ahead and choose different rotations in the different fields? Will it look bad if I do different specialties when I finally decide what I want to apply for?

Does it make a difference where you do the elective rotations? I would like to stay in the same state I live in now and there is a hospital that I have done some rotations at that I really love and would be quite happy to match there for a number of specialties. I am interested in doing one of my electives there-would that be a good/bad idea? Should I do my electives throughout the country? Some ideas would help. Thanks!

BUMP, I'm also interested in hearing input on this and on audition/sub-i's. Not to hijack the thread but my question is what if you are unsure about where you want to end up. There are only a limited number of months to do electives, at least at our school. Is is really NECESSARY to do away rotations? Would a 2-week rotation be ok, or would that look worse? Is it specialty dependent? I'd love to hear some advice.
