Hey everyone,

I just wanted to ask what other IM electives besides Rheum would be beneficial for PMR during intern year.

Thanks

Geriatrics and Sports Med if available.

Neurology.
PM&R.
Radiology.
Urology.
Outpatient ortho.
Outpatient urology.

OP was asking about IM electives. I agree with the above list if you can do any electives. I would rank them Neurology, Radiology and Ortho with OR.

Palliative Care
Cardiology
Neurology
I didn't find radiology that helpful--unless you have really great attendings you pretty much just sit and stare over their shoulder. But it does make for a good Step 3 study month because they usually send you home early.
I also did a PM&R rotation--I wanted to see what acute inpatient rehab in a community hospital was like. It's quite different than how it is in an academic center or VA.

palliative care is a great one. Wound care would be great too IMO

Cardio is critical. There is nothing more terrifying than hearing "hey doc, can you come check out this patient's telemetry strip?" when you suck at EKG and rhythm interpretation.
