Question for those already in (or past) their anesthesia training years,
I'm currently in a pretty cushy prelim year prior to a not at all cushy anesthesia program (this was by design). My inner debate has been whether to use my elective months for areas such as cardiology or pulmonology, or to take really easy electives instead. The pulm/cards electives are pretty intense compared to, say, radiology or path electives.
If they would be truly useful for my training, I would gladly take these harder electives...however, I've heard over and over again from people in anesthesia residencies not to bother with this kind of thing, that we'll learn everything we need during anesthesia residency and not to torture yourself with lots of unnecessary work prior to anes residency.
Any thoughts?
