Hi I am currently a final year student in SubContinent (IMG) and I would like to ask what position do electives at SGH or Weill Cornell, Qatar have in securing residency position at USA?
I want to have international electives in my bag, but I haven't given my STEP 1 yet. And so, I can't bag electives in USA.
But I have heard that electives at Singapore General Hospital and Weill Cornell, Qatar, do add weight
in residency application.
So please shed some light in this regard. Thanks

They don't. USCE is USCE. Singapore and Qatar are not the US.
Yes obviously that's true. But they don't hold any weight at all? Because I have students at my medical college, who do electives there and they do end up bagging residency spots without doing any USCE later on

They dont add any weight. US faculty dont even care if you rotated in Oxford. For US residency what matters is :
1; High Usmle scores
2; US CE with LORS from US faculty
3. Other strengths that set u aside like research etc.

U can match in residency without some of the above. But these should be your target
