Electrolysis involves applying voltage from external source to drive oxidation-reduction reaction that is unfavorable whereas electroplating involves applying current from external source to reduce cations (something that also happens in electrolysis, except your electron source is the material being oxidized). So why don't we consider standard potentials in electroplating but we do so in electrolysis?
