I am a third year DO student who registered to take the USMLE step 1 but postponed taking the exam (long story). I still plan on taking it, unfortunately my eligibility period ended and will have to repay the registration fee. My question is will this affect my transcript negatively in anyway, ie. will this show up as a "no show" or even worse "repeat test taker"? I've searched the forums but haven't found any information regarding this. I'm sure someone has been in this situation before. Thanks all for your help.

I dont know the answer to this question, but i would get the information from the horses mouth...call NBME.

National Board of Medical Examiners

Philadelphia, PA 19104-3102
General telephone number: (215) 590-9500
Examinee support services: (215) 590-9700; fax (215) 590-9457

Good advice.

Just as a reference (for anyone else in a similar situation), I spoke with NBME and as long as you didn't actually leave in the middle of an exam, it won't show as a retake. Worse case scenario is that I'm out about a thousand dollars. A necessary evil I suppose.
