EM competitiveness

Hello, I am not sure if this thread has already been created before.

I am a DO student interested in EM residency. I would also like to go back to Canada to practice medicine.

1)How competitive is EM really? Is it fairly non-competitive?
2)How easy/hard is it generally for DOs to get the allopathic EM residency?
3)How can you plan ahead?
