Hey friends,
I have been tasked to come up with 3 interesting articles on neuro topics for our journal club next month. Any ideas about relatively new EM based neuro papers ie... on stroke, TIA, seizures, LP's, bleeds, anything???

This might not be exactly what you are looking for, but I like this article that was recommended to me from one of my attendings from JAMA's The Rational Clinical Examination series

Goldstein and Simel. Is This Patient Having a Stroke? JAMA 2005: 293;2391-2402

Upshot is (paraphrasing conclusions from abstract): Focusing on 3 PE findings: acute facial paralysis, arm drift, or abnormal speech may improve diagnostic accuracy and reliability for acute CVA/TIA

I like this one, and think it's very practical and definitely applicable to the ED:

- Myths and Misconceptions of Wernicke’s Encephalopathy: What Every Emergency Physician Should Know

Annals of Emergency Medicine - Volume 50, Issue 6 (December 2007) -

come on corpsman, it's not that hard... I have faith in your ability to find some articles.

Although the wernicke's article looks interesting. I think we've already discussed it last year.
