What kind of MCAT do you need to get into SLU? My brother had a 30 and got in.

I got in with a 27Q

dude, you're hispanic. that comment's gonna get me banned isn't it.

The comment shouldn't get you banned. It is not a secret that under represented minorities don't have to worry as much about numbers.

I got into SLU with 32 L 3.7 overall and Science

What is this email exactly? How would SLU have anyone's email address? I'm just curious as to how they would send it out to people - did they get it from AAMC?

I was accepted with a 30Q MCAT; however, my GPA (3.9) may have made up for my average MCAT. Also, I did my undergrad at SLU.

Haha, there's a hot affirmative action thread going around currently. I've actually had to keep myself from looking at it...guaranteed to turn ya pissy in less than 30 seconds.

I also got that email. Did you only get it once you submitted your AMCAS?

I have not submitted my AMCAS. When we took the MCAT there was a box to check to allow research to be conducted on our scores. This option, I believe, also included sharing our information. So, we brought this on ourselves. :meanie:

Yeh, its similar to if anyone took the PSAT (and the SAT as well I think). Schools pay to get the list of everyone who took the test and got above a certain score and then they send out mass mailings.

I thought Med schools wouldn't be doing that but so far I've gotten the two emails everyone has received and an actual package from Dartmouth. (and of course everyone's parents get the wrong idea and think schools are "recruiting" you instead of advertising)

My parents totally did that.

I'm a URM and lol'd hard at this. I don't see why its so hard for every to just be a realist, if you are a URM you have a slight advantage. Theres nothing URMs, ORMs, or whatever the hell kind of RM you are can do about it.

so I have received an email from Slu, Med College of Wisc., the Army, and UAB MD/PhD program. Are there other schools that are doing this? If anything, it might mean that your mcat is at least respectable enough for you to be considered by schools. And at least that's not bad news.

Certainly not bad news but it is just wise not to read anything into it.
