emailed decline letters

does NJ act the same as columbia; no official rejection?

if you look on predents a few people have been rejected. umdnj may be waiting until they know the class is full and no other interviews are being given out to send out most of their rejections. perhaps it's the same with columbia.

I just got my 2nd rejection from the same school in the same year. I was emailed in September that I was rejected, then snail mailed last week with a letter saying that "I was still being considered up until then."
I guess then next thing would be a phone call and then a home visit saying that I was rejected.

I got a rejection letter from UMDNJ 2 days ago by mail.

Seems a lot of schools have been keeping people in the dark until recently. With Columbia, there was no communication from the time between submitting my AADSAS until my interview. No updates, emails, or blah. Just a tumbleweed crossing a dirt road. Then bam, interview, and decision.

just got an email rejection from Colorado. i honestly didn't think they were going to send anything.

if you've gotten a LOT of rejections, maybe give this a try?

The Ultimate Rejection Letter

Herbert A. Millington
Chair - Search Committee
412A Clarkson Hall, Whitson University
College Hill, MA 34109

Dear Professor Millington,

Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I
regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me
an assistant professor position in your department.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually
large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field
of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Whitson's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in
rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at
this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor
in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,
Chris L. Jensen
