I have a embarrasing question..
If you have not recieved any interview from the schools that you applied until now, is that mean I am done for this cycle? 🙁

Unfortunately, the answer is yes. You have to apply again in May.

Yep get ready for may 15, to start over.

Not getting into a dental school is not embarrassing. You just have to get better DAT or higher GPA and apply early for next cycle.

I agree. You should never be embarrassed when you are trying to achieve your goal. You should only be embarrassed when you give up! Just consider it a learning experience.

Yes, it's always good to be prepared for all possibilities. However, just today I received an invitation for an interview... So don't give up hope yet! You're not out until the rejection letter comes.

gum with lots of SUGAR!

I would reapply just to make sure. CHANCES are you will not get in this cycle. Nothing to be embarassed about though.

No need to be embarassed - only about 1/3 of all applicants get in. You're actually in the majority (an undesireable majority, but the majority nonetheless). That said there is still a chance that you could get an interview invite from schools with late cycles like USC.

Don't give up. I didn't get in my first year either, I just worked hard, took a bigger load (18 credits+), improved my GPA, and retook the DAT. It's quite common not to get accepted the first year. I would recommned getting in touch with your pre-dental committee, or your advisor. And if you feel brave enough, contact one of the admission's directors to the school you applied to, and ask your short commings. Improve whatever they say and apply early for '08 cycle. Good luck.

I agree 100%! I applied in 2004, skipped 2005 and reapplied in 2006. In 2004I applied REALLY late (end of November) because I wasn't as informed as I have learned to be. I contacted VCU admissions via email asking about how I can improve my application b/c they were my #1. To my surprise (bc I wasn't accepted in 2004) they said "everything looks fine. Just get some LORs from past prof. and a dentist." I did this, interviewed in Oct and I got in Dec 1. I also contacted Buffalo. They told me to retake my DAT and I would be a lot more competitive if I got in the low 20s. I never retook them b/c I got into VCU. Everything worked out great...and I agree, let ADCOM tell you what you need to do. They will help you out and you will stick in their mind. Best of luck! 😉

thank you so much.
you guys have no idea how much it means to me..

A lot of people don't get into dental school the first time around. It even happens to people with great stats, ect. So don't feel embarrassed. You're in the majority, actually.

Good luck the 2nd time around!

It is extremely late. However, some late admits are still happening. Since you are thinking of reapplying, I suggest you call the schools you applied to and find out what can be done to boost your 2008 app. I did it last year and got good feedback.
