Not getting into a dental school is not embarrassing. You just have to get better DAT or higher GPA and apply early for next cycle.
Yes, it's always good to be prepared for all possibilities. However, just today I received an invitation for an interview... So don't give up hope yet! You're not out until the rejection letter comes.
Don't give up. I didn't get in my first year either, I just worked hard, took a bigger load (18 credits+), improved my GPA, and retook the DAT. It's quite common not to get accepted the first year. I would recommned getting in touch with your pre-dental committee, or your advisor. And if you feel brave enough, contact one of the admission's directors to the school you applied to, and ask your short commings. Improve whatever they say and apply early for '08 cycle. Good luck.
