Is there a specific embrasure pattern (to be memorized ) for all the teeth ?? i.e. the ant teeth have a narrower longer facial embrasure and the facial embrasure gets shorter and wider as you go posteriorly in the mouth .

Embrasures:
Facial embrasures are narrower than lingual embrasures on all teeth except the maxillary first molar (where the facial embrasure is wider) and between the mandibular centrals (where the facial and lingual embrasures may be the same size).

The largest incisal embrasure is between the maxillary lateral and canine.
The 2nd largest incisal embrasure is between the mandibular lateral & canine.
The 3rd largest incisal embrasure is between the maxillary central and lateral.
The 4th largest incisal embrasure is between the maxillary centrals.
The 5th largest incisal embrasure is between the mandibular central & lateral.
The 6th largest (smallest) incisal embrasure is between the mandibular centrals.
The largest OVERALL occlusal embrasure is between the maxillary canine and first pre-molar, but we shouldn't be comparing anteriors (apples) and posteriors (oranges).

what's the difference between the largest incisal embrasure and the largest overall occlusal embrasure???

The largest incisal embrasure is only among anterior teeth; the largest overall embrasure includes posterior teeth.

According to 1996 NBDE released question it says
The largest incisal/occlusal embrasure is located between max lateral incisor and canine. (even though max canine and 1st premolar was one of the choices)

If the question asked for the largest embrasure (without saying incisal embrasure), would the answer be between max canine and 1st premolar?

By the way, I think incisal embrasure is occlusal embrasure, meaning that it's not just talking about anterior teeth. So then this would mean that the occlusal embrasure between max lateral incisor and canine would always be larger than the embrasure between max canine and 1st premolar no matter what.

I am gonna add 1 more comment here 🙂

The largest incisal embrasure = largest occlusal embrasure = between max lateral incisor and canine.

The embrasure between max canine and 1st premolar is SMALLER.
But! 1 thing to know about this one is
"Pronounced dvelopmental grooves are usually associated with embrasures between permanent canine and premolar for both max and mand"
