Embryology could be taught a little better at my school. It is integrated with most of our Anatomy lectures. I feel like I'm missing out because the PBL integration. Just wondering how I might be able to pick up the slack a little. I already have High Yield Embryology by Dudek, but just wondering if you guys think I shouled buy a textbook. Anyone go to a school that uses one of the books below?

Embryology Textbooks:
- Developing Human, Moore
- Human Embryology, Larsen
- Langman's Medical Embryology, Sadler

We used Developing Human, Moore. I found it to be too dense and boring to read. Some of my classmates felt the same. We just went over the class powerpoints.

So, you didn't actually use the textbook? That's great. You think I can just get by with HY Embryology?

I read parts of Langman's embryo. From what I remember it was easy to read and it has nice pictures and lots of them.

You might want to look for a program called Symbrio that visually goes through the weeks of embryogenesis/fetal growth. I find embryology is much easier if you can visualize or even motion out what is going on--make an embryo dance!!

Good luck

I haven't looked at HY yet. We used an online resource created by our school (password protected I think) that we used in additin to slides to understand a lot of pictures. Then we also get some embryo in 2nd year and that helps as well. There was one book that a few people highly recommended: Langman's Medical Embryology ... I haven't used it but people who used it said it was awesome .... try to get it from your school library first and if you like it then order it

Good luck

We used Embryology by Moore at my school but I agree it can be difficult to read. I used BRS embryo for class but am still a first year so I can't speak to the boards.

My school didn't have an embryo course either.

I've been using an old (1995) copy of BRS Embryo that I picked up somewhere for $3 and I've been able to answer every boards review question on the subject that I've found so far. HY Embryo is supposed to be good too but I haven't read it so I can't comment on its utility for learning the subject the first time.
