Hey,
I am interested in attending medical school at USF, but when I was looking through the curriculum I noticed they don't have an EM rotation in their 4th year. I found this strange because every other florida school does. This is the field I am certain I want to specialize in so it is important to me to go to a school that has an EM rotation. Does anyone know anything about USF's rotations, and if they might change this in the next few years? Or, does anyone know if they let you attend another school for the rotation, like UF or UM? Thanks for any responses.

I am sure in your fourth year you will have plenty of elective time to do an EM rotation, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the info and website. I guess I just figured that if it was not listed as a fourth year requirement it was not offered. Since most of the other schools I have looked into require students to do an EM rotation.

The curriculum committee is currently working on changing things up for the clinical years, mostly 3rd year, but I don't have any solid details since there are none. They are supposed to be changes to improve what is already in place, so I doubt they will add EM as a required clerkship though. The changes are taking effect starting next year.

There will be a required EM rotation for fourth year medical students beginning I believe in two years. Currently there is not and you can simply take it as an elective. However I agree that all schools should have a required EM rotation sometime in their clincial years.

ten bucks says you change your mind at least a few times over four years of school... 👍
