EMG fellowships programs

HI there, anyone can suggest the top fellowships with mostly EMG (no EEG, no pain, no sleep)? Is there a place training mostly in EMG? Goal to be independent in 1 year (for private practice).

Why not do neuromuscular. You’ll get all EMG and none of the EEG. Plus you’ll be an expert on managing neuromuscular conditions.

You can always practice general neurology regardless of your fellowship training. But you may find you like having some percentage of subspecialty only time and choose to keep that too. Win/win.

Avoid big academic programs if you aim for PP and 1-year fellowship. For example, Mayo clinic might require in total 4 years of training (EMG year, Muscle, peripheral nerve, and NMJ each has a separate year). other big academic places will make you stay for 2-3 years (Harvard/Hopkins etc)

Case Western has Dr. Preston and Shapiro and it is 1-year program.

For PP maybe clinical neurophysiology will be more suitable for you as you will learn EEG / sleep which can boost your income

Can you still read sleep studies without a sleep fellowship?

No, you need to be boarded in sleep. In order to take the sleep boards you need to have done a fellowship. Until a few years ago you could be grandfathered in (if someone signs off you have practiced sleep) but I understand that it is not the case any longer
