someone has (today), but they're in atlanta.😉

ps. It's a big white envelope with ACCEPTANCE written on it in block letters, and the note is actually handsigned and personalized.

I just got my Emory Acceptance today. Yeah it comes on a big white envelop that say "Acceptance" on bottom left corner. Hope you get one soon!

Yeah I received a white envelope as well. Its so nice of them to write "Acceptance" on the outside, saving me about 5 minutes of extreme stress.

Congrats...I wish I had my interview earlier so if I get in, I would have got the envelope now...instead I'll be put into the November round at the earliest

calebho - when did you interview at emory?

I interviewed last Friday--October 24. Obviously it's too late for the October acceptance round, IF I get an acceptance 😉

bump - anyone? bueller?

I just feel it coming my way!! 😛

Emory interviewees, I was just wondering when you completed your secondary and were invited for an interview? I haven't heard anything yet...

this is the kind of dingus i would never want to be classmates with. he may be a nice guy...but so full of himself there's no room left for humility at all...he finds it hard to remember that some others may not be as fortunate as him to already have three acceptances and still be bragging about getting a fourth. calebho501 - bring yourself back down to earth dude, seriously

premed2,

You need to chill out. Even IF you feel bitter about the admission process, don't take it out on me. I was making a joke out of the whole thing, and obviously I won't know if Emory will accept me or not until I get the letter. Everyone knows the process is a crapshot and there is no guarantee.

And the whole classmate comment...you need to be meet someone IN PERSON before you can make an accurate judgment. AND please don't start the whole, "I will not want you to be the doctor for me or my family" thing.l

Caleb

are you going to give up your sqautting rights on the three schools that you have been accepted to if you get into Emory? I think it is people like you that make this process agonizing for people on the fringes.

calebho - i dont mean to judge you...im just saying, you're bein awfully arrogant about your situation. a good physician is not only smart and capable (as i am sure you are), but is also humble about his/her achievements (as you have proven not to be).
and btw, im not bitter about the process, i only applied to 9 places and have already been accepted to two...but im not goin around bragging about how im so sure ill get into more. im thankful for what i have, i wish OTHERS the same luck.

its a shame your arrogance didnt show up during your interview...maybe humility will be a good trait for you to pick up.

The lady in charge of the interview day (Erica Black?) is awesome. 😍

😛

i think you're getting all riled up about nothing. calebho501 posted a light hearted comment. no need to turn it into more than that. he makes plenty of good contributions to this forum. ever consider that maybe you're taking things a bit too seriously?

cheers

Well first of all, if I decide to hold on to multiple acceptances, it'll be because I'm still unsure when I wanna go and I wanna keep my options open.

Second of all, I have declined acceptances to SUNY Upstate and Jefferson, and am only holding onto Vanderbilt right now.

So what I wanna say is that you need to be careful about making offensive comments like that, especially when you're not entirely sure about a person's situation.

I think if I go on debating this with you, it'll just end up going nowhere. I'll just simply get frustrated that you took my comment seriously, and you'll simply get upset that I can't see my "arrogance".

Whatever you think of me, I can't do anything by now. I think time will prove what the truth is, and if we end up being classmates in the same school, that's great, you'll get to see the real me in person.

Caleb--

We interviewed at two schools together, Baylor and Emory. We spoke for quite a while at Baylor. Unfortunately, I didn't get to talk to you at Emory. We were in different interview groups.

I would love to be your classmate, and I would trust you to treat any member of my family. I don't think you are arrogant at all. Let these comments slide off you.

I hope you get an acceptance letter.

I do have one question, do they send all interviewees a letter, or just the ones who got in?

Also, have you emailed Erica Black?

Hey tfaah, actually I didn't interview at Baylor, so it may be a different person you talked to. But it's possible that we met at Emory (I interviewed on Oct 24). There were only two Asian guys on my interview day and I was the shorter one 🙂

Acceptance letters are sent out on specific dates on a handout they gave out on interview day. Waitlist and rejection letters are sent out after March

I didn't email Erica Black, because I don't wanna overwhelm the admission office. I'm going to wait and see.

Not for me, still waiting....if accepted, the letter should be arriving in these few days, otherwise, no news is BAD news for emory. 🙁

so...if you havent gotten a letter by the next two mailing cycles from emory, does that mean that you're gonna get waitlisted/rejected after all the cycles have been finished? or is it still possible to get accepted at a later mailing date?

There are 4 more possible acceptance cycles beyond this past nov 17 date. After the last cycle, which will be on the march 8, alternate list and denial letters will be sent out subsequently. So technically, all of us will be still considered thru the last cycle of acceptance. So keep ur hopes up...and erica said that sending LOI will help too....

uh-oh, I sense a crush over there, Gleevec 😀

two things:

first, i'm ready to take on gleevec if i must for erika - she was mighty cute and nice, and by far the best looking jewish girl i've come across in years. 😀

second, if mailings went out monday, why hasn't anyone gotten anything? perhaps they didn't go out till late monday (ie, effectively tuesday), but i haven't seen anyone add an emory acceptance for the second round of mailings. i know it's a small class, but there's only 6 rounds total, so you'd think they'd send out at least 30 acceptances each round.

Hey Update for everyone:

I was so anxious that I just emailed Erica Black directly and asked if any acceptance letter was mailed out on Nov 17. From her reply, it seems like they did mail out some letters, but she didn't go into details, and just said that I haven't been accepted yet. However, she urged people who are interested in the school to email her and she can put the email in your file.

SDN does stand for Student Dating Network after all 😉

j/k but seriously, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. I think any heterosexual male would.

Let me describe my day with facial expressions.

Stuck in traffic jam on way to interview 🙁

Get to the school on time luckily, notice some people I had met at interviews prior. 🙂

Am introduced to EB (I am not worthy to speak her name), and I think she is a student. 😍

Realize that she is an admissions coordinator. 😱

Get a personal tour from EB because our group was brought back late from Grady. 😀

Upon leaving, she says no tears or group hugs 🙁

She is by far the most approachable of admissions officials, probably because of her age and outgoing personality, and she spent a lot of her time sitting around with the students in the waiting area instead of sitting at her office. Definitely made a huge positive impression on me, as well as the campus, the endowment, and the city.

Emory was definitely my most pleasantly surprising interview for a variety of reasons.

PS. mlw03, you're no match for me! you cant even spell her name right 😛

Hmm, If I were in her position I might be flattered actually to find that people found me attractive, energetic, and sociable.

Or disturbed... but hopefully more flattered.

anybody know when the next mailing date is/was after the nov. 17th one?

Here are the dates that they send out acceptance letter: Dec 15, Jan 20, Feb 16, March 8. March 15-19 they will send out alternate list. March 22-26 they will send out denial letters.

thanks!! 🙂

<counting days it might (oh please oh please!) take such a letter to make it to los angeles...>

I think there weren't many acceptances sent out in Oct and Nov, as you can see by going to the acceptance thread. Not sure if it'll be the same for the Dec bunch.

I emailed Erica Black and found out that I'm not included in the Dec bunch (I told her I'm out of country for the holiday and won't be able to get any mails sent to me)

Perhaps they give out most acceptances in March (the last acceptance date)?

Congratulations to all the people who got accepted at emory. Its a very nice school. I will be applying there next year. I was just curious what there Mcat scores and Gpa were like this year. Mcat scores ( individual and composite) and gpa's would be very appreciated.

Best of luck to people still awaiting a reply.

i don't have the balls to email eric(k?)a by any means.

i kind of like the suspense of waiting to see my status.

i'm not going to give my stats to you man...i think you should apply and not worry about it if you want to go there - i.e. if you're nervous about getting in, your stats are probably not the end all be all, and if you're nosy, well...sorry 😉 😛 😀

I think it's spelled "Erica". She's really nice about emails. I emailed her once after the Nov acceptance date, and again in December, but she wasn't annoyed. She basically implied that it was a way for me to show my interest in the school. She actually suggested me to email a letter of intent to add to my file, and I did.

I think it'll vary with schools. Some schools will find that annoying but in Emory's case, they don't mind.
