So, I got a letter from the Medical College of Wisconsin, then some podiatry school in NY... today an (email - pdf attachment) letter from Emory, suggesting that I change my AMCAS and apply there. Is this random or what? I added a school a few weeks ago after getting a personal email from the school, but this looks like a mass-produced pdf.

Is anyone else getting a lot of these?? I've already filed my secondaries for wright state, wash u, creighton, case western, keck and just got the secondary from loma linda... at one point can one discern whether the school has an actual interest????????

Just a word of advice: don't apply to a school just because you think it might be interested in you. Consider their letter an invitation to examine their school. If you like what you see, consider applying. If not, move on.

And if your stats aren't in line with theirs, I'd probably not bother (unless you're suddenly attracted to a particular school).

Seriously... i'm not so awesome that I think i can just pick and choose. Quite frankly, if a school is interested in ME, that will MAKE me interested in them.

Realistically though... EMORY? not a chance they're actually interested. There have to be a lot of other letters like this out there in SDN-land.

I don't think most people have gotten an Emory solicitation, but I might be wrong. Emory has so much interest from people that they don't need to solicit, therefore I would think schools like this might ought to be taken more seriously because of their prestige.

I got the same letter from Emory yesterday and I'm wondering if this is sincere or just a way to collect more money. I originally hadn't planned on applying there because I don't have high numbers but now I just might give it a shot. I'm curious to see what others think of this letter.

there was another thread where a bunch of people said they got the wisconsin and ny podiatry school stuff. this is the first i've heard of something from emory.

I got the same letter from Emory yesterday (and MCW and the podiatry school a while back). My numbers aren't so hot either, and I don't really want to waste the money just to get a rejection. Besides, it would really hurt my feelings.

I got the same email and wouldn't have applied otherwise. Emory looks great, I just wonder if I should burn the add'l $30 + $80. Plus I like the warm and sunny South 👍 I may call admissions and get a better feel before deciding.

I got that same letter from Emory about a month ago by email. I think people get the letter if they sign up for the Med-Mar program when you take the MCAT, and do about average on the test. I think its a way to recruit minorities, but I'm not sure. I appreciated the letter, but with their averages for MCAT and GPA for matriculates, I kind of laughed and and won't be applying...
