Emory vs. Baylor

I would also like to hear from anyone that has any thoughts on theses programs, as I am having a hard time choosing between them and making my rank list.

Baylor definitely is a bigger name than emory...though training at emory may be a lil bit superior than baylor...
but more or less in terms of fellowship placements I think Baylor has an edge over emory...
also location may be a plus point for Baylor...being in TMC ..sorrounded by hospitals like St. Lukes,Methodist and of ocurse not to mention the greatest of all ,The M.D.Anderson...
and Baylor residents rotate through all of them...
so that way Baylor has an edge in terms of fellowship placements...
however only texans and georgians would know better about the inside story...
as from my point of view I would anyday rank Baylor very high on my list...

...was extremely disappointing in my mind. I was less than impressed with their program. Specifically, I found the residents to be rather impersonal. Also, a high-ranking department member felt it was necessary to dog my school's IM program, which is far superior, during the interview. Even if this person had that opinion of my institution, what professional person would do something like that? Did he need to do so in order to elevate his program in his mind? Not impressed with the knowledge base and logic of the residents during morning report either.
MD Anderson is affiliated with University of Texas, Baylor medicine residents do not routinely rotate through there. Baylor just lost affiliation with Methodist hospital, undergoing major changes. They might therefore get St. Lukes affiliation. I'd say Emory over Baylor.

These programs have traditionally been considered very similar in reputation, quality of training, work-load, quality of residents, etc. One downside to the emory program is the geographic separation of their hospitals. As has previously been mentioned on this forum, the disaffiliation of baylor and methodist is not a big deal from the baylor IM dept. point of view.
I would say it's pretty much a toss up between the two and you should go with the one you liked the best when you visited

I interviewed at both and thought they were both awesome and had a wide scope of training. In fact I believe they are some of the more diverse programs in terms of training. Both have impressive fellowship placement in all specialities all over the country. One would be extremely fortunate to train at either of these institutions.
