Has anybody heard if the Emory waitlist has started to move yet?

Erica Black (Asst Dir of Admissions) told me last week that they hadn't started to take people from the waitlist yet. About a month before that, she also told me that despite having to choose only one school by May 15, there are several people who continue to hold onto multiple acceptance well after that which has to be resolved. To those people I say: Bastaaaaaaaaards! 🙂

They should drop the jerks who are holding more than one. Then, you know, accept me and stuff... 🙂

Does anyone know when the waitlist is going to start to move?

I would like to know as well. They have been very ambiguous whenever I ask. 👍

i don't think they do know when movement is going to start. I've been waiting also. I wish it would though. I came to the conclusion that I can only wait for about 1 month. I need to start moving on and taking care of apts and living expenses. There seems to be quite a few people interested in emory off the waitlist though. I don't even know why I'm holding on!!!

Does anyone know if they're taking people off the waiting list between now and July 15th (the first day of class)? I haven't heard anything in a long time and the admissions office hasn't been very informative over the phone, so I'm not too hopeful.

not feeling any love on this thread 😎

They emailed me a couple weeks ago and said there had been waitlist movement, but the class is stable now. It had the tone of a rejections... nice of them to actually reply to something. I think I emailed then a dozen times over the past couple months with questions, and got maybe 3 replies. Erica Black batted 0 for 3. Really not impressed... Probably, though, I'm just mostly bitter.

I'm in the same boat as you longlakeboy. Erica was so welcoming during my interview but never went out of her way to respond to my phone calls and e-mails. Oh well...

This was a school I would love to have attended, but NO it sucks.

I received a phone call yesterday from Erica asking me if I would still come to Emory if I was offered a spot between now and Wednesday. Did anyone else hear from her?

hey that sounds good. you gonna go with emory?

If a spot opens up and I'm lucky enough to get a phone call, I will definitely go to Emory! I'm not getting my hopes up though as the class has been stable for 3 weeks.

Ms. Erica Black is the nicest admission staff I have met! Sorry that she didn't get back to you with her email, but that lady is so busy with all the paper work and admission stuff. She can do so much! Let's give her a break. Good luck with your medical school admission process.

I decided to defer a year at emory, so there's at least one spot open for this year's class. = )

good luck everyone.

Would those of you that were wait listed at Emory mind posting your stats?
(GPA, MCAT, undergrad school, state of residence)
Thanks

Here's a line from the waitlist E-Mail- "Openings in the class are filled as they occur until registration day, July 21". So I guess that means the waitlist is dead. It's just as well I suppose, since getting off the waitlist now would mean having to move to Atlanta right away, without having any housing set up, let alone having loans and financial aid in place, and that's on top of having to cancel all the stuff that's in place with my current school.

i agree with you rogue_leader. it's one of my favorite med schools but would not be much fun moving down there last minute.
