Emory?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
😀 I interviewed on 10/23 - Yes, I'm a GA resident and I work at Emory!!! If I'm over in that direction I'll put in a good word for ya. 😀 I was once a CA resident too.

Oooh, I work at Emory, and am also a California resident! I'm at Yerkes, where are you? Best of luck!! :luck:

What a coincidence!!! 😀 I'm in the Dental Bldg - work for EVPHA. Thanks! Congrats on your acceptances! Tough deciding on where to attend?

Ha! I'm in there all the time to visit the transgenic faciliity in the basement. Maybe I've run into you. 😉

But yeah, I'm so happy and unbelievably lucky with my acceptances, except now I'm having the hardest time figuring out where I want to be. I'm hoping I'll have a better idea of where I want to go once I hear about financial aid packages. But, honestly, I'm leaning towards emory right now... it's such a good school, and it would be so nice not to have to move again! If only it weren't so expensive...

HA! I'm sure we've passed each other all the time, especially since the lab is right by the elevators. 😀

Yeah, I would definitely lean towards attending Emory b/c of not having to move and already being familiar with the university. Its nice to already know where things are at so it makes adjusting that much easier. Best of luck to you in your decision and I hope that it is easy to make once you've received all the financial aid packages.

Thanks ahhh123 - I hope to be a classmate of both you and fujiapple if she attends Emory! You guys are great!😀

Tue is the last chance!!! :scared: I'm scared. I really don't want to end up on the waiting list even though it probably moves a lot.

I hear that. Any anecdotes on how far it moved the past few years? I'm guessing it'll move a little more this year since there's a new curiculum and all. Still REALLY hoping to get in without any waitlist involvement...

Good luck to everyone still waiting

plus they increased their class size by like 10 i think it is this year

Does anyone know if they sent out the letters today? I guess last time they were a day early.

I'd also like to know if they sent letters out today. Anyone know?

I called the office this morning. They sent out acceptances on Monday, and hope to email everyone else (rejections and alternate list) by the end of the week.

Just got the "alternate status" e-mail. Good luck to everyone waiting!

I got a waitlist e-mail, too. I was a bit surprised, but perhaps the interview didn't go as well as I had thought. Oh well, I've informed them of my decision to withdraw. Best of luck to everyone else still waiting!

got waitlisted too, who knows, humbling process, i got into columbia and cornell but i thought my interview went well and i was a good match for the program but its ok

Hmmm I am now an alternate, and I wonder how many alternates there are? I hope that they only gave spots to alternates who conceivably could get in rather than give us false hope.

Alternate for me too. 🙁

Are they actually sending rejections too? I got the impression that there are only alternate and acceptances.

For what its worth, several students told me they were accepted off the waitlist there last year and hopefully with this new curriculum, there'll be even more movement.

waitlist here too. not many tears here. i've withdrawn so now for those of you asking, there will be even more spots on the waitlist.

Waitlist for me too, I might withdraw though haven't decided just yet.

Put another tick next to "waitlisted" for me. (I'm not sure which is worse, waitlist or "alternate" list...) It's the second for me in as many days.

Anyone have any more information on the revised curriculum? When I interviewed (Oct?) the details they gave were still really sketchy.

My basic understanding was that it was very similar to what Case Med did this year. 18 months basic science, less lecture, more small group stuff. Gives you a few months to do a research project/go abroad.

so i can confirm that the letters were mailed out. received mine here in atlanta today. :luck: :luck: to those waiting.

alternate list for me too. I am hoping the list will move or that my other school comes through for me🙁

good luck to everyone waiting and congratulations to those who got in 🙂

Did anyone at all get rejected, or did everyone who interviewed and didn't receive an acceptance just get put on the alternate list? wait list for me too.

or does anyone know if there is a ranked order? I am always curious, and want to call, but I probably won't bother them.

all the applicants who didn't receive an acceptance are placed on the unranked waitlist.

rejections haven't been sent out yet...from their page :
March 15
Initial first-year class filled and Alternate List established

March 31
Final letters sent to all applicants not selected for admission or Alternate List

Waitlisted.

But did anyone else notice how AMAZING the waitlist letter is? It describes in detail everything you need to know about being on the waitlist. Your chances, what you should do, what the waitlist means. I just think it was nice of them to answer our questions before we even asked. Props to Dr Schwartz.

I withdrew, but its saddening that this destroys all chances I had with Erica. Alas.

:luck:

Received large envelope yesterday.

Anyone kinda irritated by the confirmation email that you withdrew? It said something like "Refusal of Alternate List Standing." I think they could've picked a better word that 'refusal,' like withdrawal or something. I just thought it looked way harsh.

no acceptance mail and no alternate status email... does that spell a post-int rejection now?

Did you check your junk mail folder? I started to freak out too when I hadn't received anything, but there was my alternate list email in my junk mail. WHEW! :luck: to ya!

I wonder if Emory has sent any no letters at all or if everyone is is accepted or waitlisted\altenate?

Better to not have false hope.

You withdrew, dude. Who cares?

I got the alternate status e-mail as well, pretty much what I expected. However, I am probably going to withdraw my app soon.

If someone does get a post-March 13 rejection email, can you please post on this thread?

Did anybody write down Erica Blacks E-mail? I needed to ask her a question. On their web page it just has that general admissions email address, and I thought she had one just for her.

sorry. i'll pm it.

does it matter if you send emails to Erica or the general adcom email address?
i figured that either type of email would be going in your file so it doesn't matter....?

I think they all go to her inbox. She said to mention "hey Erica" or something in the subject line to differentiate it from the thousands of people who applied and haven't even been interviewed. I always say something about current acceptee (who knows if acceptee is a real word) in the subject line too.

Ok so she said we could call her Erica right?? I didn't want to be too informal but I was pretty sure she said we could call her that.

Does anybody know if the ppl from you 3 on 3 interview are on the admissions committee? And/or if your 1 on 1 intervier is on the committee? just curious, thanks

Can anyone shed some light on the waitlist (or rather, how to get off one)? I interviewed there in Oct. I'm an Emory undergrad (3.0 bcpm, 3.3x cum, 37 yea I know my GPA is atrocious) and recently got waitlisted. I'm basically just thinking of constantly letting them know that I'm interested, updating (possibly with another rec letter from a donations clinic that I've been volunteering at), just diligently annoying them in general. I've also already sent Emory an LOI earlier, as this is absolutely my top choice. Anything else I can do to improve my chances?

I still want to know whether or not they reject anyone in March, or does everyone just go on the waitlist?

yes they are. For both 3 on 3 and 1 on 1.

i just created an open position...withdrew today. Best of luck to you all!
