I did not see a thread related to what I'm discussing here and apologize if a similar one exists and I'm being redundant. I'm a final year pharmD student and just recieved a job offer from Walgreens which I'm very excited about. The problem is that I'm not thrilled with the area (geographic location) that I got hired for. I just would like to see whether anyone has found themselves in a similar situation and what they did. Would you take a job with a company you like even if you don't like the area/city? Thanks for any thoughts.

Yes, and transfer internally once a position opens up if possible. Better than no job

I know I am going to be in the same situation next year Lazybug! Would you mind telling us roughly where they are offering positions? I am wondering how rural I should expect....lol. Like should I be prepared to live in the mountains of Arkansas or the deserts of New Mexico. LOL.

what do you expect? The prime locations are taken by pharmacists who have more experience/seniority than you. Start on the low end of the totem pole and earn the more desirable post through merit.

Well I guess it depends on which state you're discussing. I know that for California you're looking at more inland areas (whether northern or southern), which are generally considered to be the undesirable parts of california to live in. I personally have a preference for the northeastern part of the country which seems to be particularly difficult to find jobs in, despite the weather. Strange.

Yes, I did. I pretty much cannot stand where I live, but I didn't really have any leverage for getting some awesome job. Hoping to get some good experience here and move on in life.

A lot can happen between now and May!

Very true. I may actually get another offer, but to be honest, the manager who hired me for this district is such a nice person that it would be tough to find someone like that to work with. I just wish it was in a different area.

congrats on the offer! I'm just curious if you have decided to accept the offer or not? I'm in the same situation you are and can't help but wonder, 'what if I get something better later on in the year?'

I passed on a retail one already. Shooting for residency. You only live once, so why not chase after what you want?

Why didn't you guys just ACCEPT the offer now....if you get a residency or something better later you can always reject it later on....

You should always accept everything until you get something you love more.

Thank you. I actually did accept it but I'd feel bad if I were to go change it later on. If I'm gonna get another offer I'd hope I get it soon so I don't change my mind on them last minute. Have you accepted your offer yet?
