EMT class--how to classify it on AMCAS?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There should be a section on AMCAS specifically asking whether you have any special licenses. I had a pharm tech license when I applied, so I put that down.

oh ok. cool....I guess I will get to that part eventually.

You do not receive a license when you get your EMT: it is a certificate. There is a big difference. Anyway, it is not a degree.
Have fun with the AMCAS. 😀

are you talking about putting it down as an activity or on youtr transcript?

i did both

for activity, i wrote i was a certified EMT-b

for my transcript, i just filled out the info from the transcript i got.

oldman, by "activity" do you mean "post secondary experiences?"

I am not sure on how to handle that either. I suppose I should do both--transcript and Post Sec Exp.

I never even thought about this problem . . .

I rec'd my EMT and then became a medic between my sophomore and junior years in college. I felt that the training was distinct from undergraduate work and didn't belong in that section of my AMCAS application. . .

As far as my work as a paramedic, I included it extensively in both my essay and in my extracurrics but that was about it.

Let me know what you all think but in the end things ended up working out very well!

Good luck Tweetie!
