EMT-I - possible in one summer?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It depends on the state you are in, and how many classes are involved......when I took it (several years ago) it was a single course (8 credit hrs) and from what I've heard not much has changed in EMS education in the past few years.

i live in MA, and looking through the catalogue of some cc it had like ~3 courses for EMT-I...

Then you should ask the program director at that school. Although I do know of a member of the EMS forums I frequent (see the link in my signature), that has had problems with the Commonwealth of Massachussetts and EMT-I credentialing through no fault of her own so far as I know. Post your question over on Fieldmedics; I'm sure you will get a lot better responses than you could ever get on SDN since most of the people here have extremely limited EMS experience at best.

see also bad responce...why do you want to be an EMT-I? It bothers me that my state is bringing in this midlevel as it is.

why do you want to be an EMT-I?

i cant find a job as an emt-b, and working as an emt on campus sucks. to become an emt-p you need 1 yr experience as an emt-i...

ill probably just dump this all and go into phlebotomy.

Mach11,
My state has EMT B, E, I, and P. I just started my I class tonight, and I was told that the I level is being taken away at the National level but VA is keeping it. I think that it should just be one level; P. I trying to get through premed anyways, but I is going to be a nice thing to keep money coming in.

Is anyone considering medical school? Also, a P student told me the other day that a doctor is just a paramedic that can't handle the stress. Is that totally retarted to anyone else? 😕
