As a former resident, I found there to be many views on salaries for Endocrinolgists which had me bit confused. Nonetheless, I decided to move forward with my Endo fellowship for other reasons. Now, I am in my final year of fellowship so I can provide some insight into salaries for others who are interested.
I am finding that for private practices, in rural areas, salaries being offered to my colleagues are in the $210,000 to $240,000 range with moving allowance and sign-on bonus. For academic positions, salaries are much lower, Although, the sample size is very small but couple of data points suggest $140,000 to $150,000 with no sign-on bonus. However, academic positions offer higher number of vacation days and less productivity pressure. I did get a call from one private group that strongly believed that salary plus productivity bonus would be around $600,000 but I did not look into that offer due to geography. I have had some other recruiters call me and suggest $300,000 incliuding salary and bonus. All in all, I find demand to be strong in rural and mid-size cities. Some opportunties in north-east suburbs (philadelphia, etc.). Here are couple of links to salary surveys:

Good luck to everyone and please keep in mind that above information is based only on ONE person's experience! Others recent fellows or current fellows - please contribute to this thread so we can have a larger sample size! Thank you.
