So each aminoacyl-tRNA-synthetase uses one ATP to charge the tRNA with one amino acid, and one GTP is hydrolyzed to initiate translation? So if a polypeptide is made up of 10 Amino acids does that mean 10 ATPs and 1 GTP were used? Can anyone explain this please and when exactly we use energy in translation... And oh what catalysis the peptide bond? Which rRNA and what site (from the APE)? Thanks

Hey, as far as I remember it's 1 GTP/1ATP per amino acid , I.e. 4 high energy bonds , you use ATP to charge the tRNA and GTP to initiate/translocate the ribosome . Catalysis of peptide bond by peptidyl transferase,aka ribozyme which is built into the ribosome(50S I think) . Chloramphenicol inhibits that enzyme.. So each amino acid = 1AtP/1gtp
