I know a bunch of schools require a full year of english but would it be alright if I took it during the summer after my final year? Im a Canadian applicant and im not sure how strict these pre-reqs are.

I just want to delay taking english because i know i will get a lower mark than in any other course. So i dont want it on either my American or Canadian apps.

plan?

If your post is any indication of how well you write, i'd go ahead and take english now. At my university you would easily earn an A. I can say that with confidence because i had to read tons of absolutely terrible peer written papers in my english comp courses. Most of those kids couldn't form a single decent sentence, you'd kill it.

there you go MB, your solution is to transfer to college in Ohio. Why didn't I think of that😀

lol sorry im not sure im convinced... What im really interested in is how strict the pre-reqqs are. I should probably just call the schools or something right? Just hoping someone has some experience in dealing with a situation like this.

i remember reading that as long as you completed your pre-reqs before you entered you are fine...but what kind of college doesn't require at least one semester of english/some writing course?

Either way you're going to have to submit that grad to the schools to prove you completed it. Might as well take it before you graduate. There's nothing worse than having to take one last class after your senior year. hell, I'm having a hard time caring about classes during the year, let alone if I had to take one this summer. There has to be an easy remedial rhet or english class you can take second semester senior year.

:laugh:Lol.
English Comp I and II are really easy As if you speak English as a first language. Just take it soon; it's a pretty easy 3 credit course, even if you already have a heavy courseload.

Sounds like you're trying to avoid taking english....why are you dragging your feet on this?

Yes the pre-reqs are strict (thus pre-requirements), and yes you can gain an acceptance without having one or two pre-reqs but they will withdraw their offer if you if are missing even one by the time classes begin.

yea thats basically it lol. But i guess theres no way around it... oh well, it was worth asking!

Unless..... okay well to graduate from my university you need 2.0 Essay courses. I have so far 0.5 essay credit from a lab course. The other 1.5 is going to come from my thesis project in final year. Do you think these "Essay" courses could count as my english requirment since theres enough writing in them to be considered essay credits?

...must beat the system........
🙂

You'll wanna explicitly ask all your schools about that one. I know they've accepted my biology class that also counts for a writing gen ed for the english requirement. Alot of times if you satisfy your school's writing requirement, you'll satisfy the med schools, but like someone said before, I'd hate to be wrong. So double and triple check
