English Composition

A lot of pain and suffering. It's just writing and writing about topics that won't tickle your fancy. You will write loads of BS and try to care about topics such as why an author decided to make a certain flower yellow instead of red.

If you are like me and more of a science person, it will be painful. There will be a lot of writing papers you don't care about. I think it was hardest for me because I like to see results of my work fast, and when writing a paper I just sit there and look at the word document. Try and find out early what your professor thinks is "A" work and go off of that.

That class is a joke. I hope you took it online, otherwise you're in for a painful summer...

English is the only dept I know of that drops your grade for attendance and tardiness. It's because the classes are so ridiculous no one wants to attend them.

My class: Online, wrote about 8 papers. Did them all during the first week of the class, then submitted them on their deadlines. Total class focus time = <10 hours.

I did get a note on my last paper though, She said, "I can't give you any better than a 94% on this paper because your writing style hasn't changed at all and you're still doing the same things you were doing at the beginning of the semester..." I bet she was pissed and knew exactly what I did, but like I said, the class is a joke.

As everyone else mentioned in posts above, you'll be writing a hell lot of papers. You're not going to enjoy it but to get an A in this class, make sure you write awesome papers with no grammatical mistakes. Use fancy vocabulary and you're golden.

Good luck, my friend.

P.S. Do not think of plagiarising at all. Your instructor can figure it out pretty quick using TurnMeIn.com or simply Googling certain sentences/phrases.

AH! This was an awful class for me. I had this woman from China that could barely speak English. She literally told me that some of the words I used were too big. Worst class ever. Eight papers -- all graded exactly the same which made it even easier. Plus, we could rewrite papers that we were not happy about after our grades were given. AND tons of people dropped letter grades due to tardiness & attendance.
