Curious what is the composition of a typical adcom: e.g. how many people, are they all faculty of the med school?

This will be school dependent. But as a rule of thumb, it's almost always faculty (both clinical and pre-clinical sciences, and maybe students.

I do know that there are schools that have outside community members on the committee as well.

The LCME requires that the majority of members be faculty.
Other than that, there are no restrictions regarding composition.
