Hey fellow SDNers! I will be an incoming Freshman next year and I was curious if taking English 1A and English 1B over the summer at a community college before I head off to college is a reasonable decision. The reason I am asking is I want to get rid of the English requirement(s) for Medical School and do it when I have more free time. The way I plan on taking the courses is doing one for each summer session. I believe each summer session consists of 6 weeks and the credits are for the quarter system, which is identically the same as where I will matriculate in the Fall.

1) Will taking two quarter classes fulfill the English requirement or will I have to complete 3 quarters; 1 year.
2) How much of a negative impact will it have on my resume if I decide to take it at a Community College (CC)?.

Thank you so much guys.';/,

While I believe that 2 quarters count as a full year, I cannot say for sure since I have never been on the quarter system.

About it hurting you however, no it will not. It shouldn't matter where you took your English courses from.

EDIT:
No 2 quarters do not count as a full year, it has to be 3 quarters. I talked to my friend on the quarter system and he said that it is 3 as opposed to 2.

Does anyone else have any other feedback before I go see my counselor to get a signature next week?

Agree with Cheech. Do you need a full year of English as a requirement? If so, you could do one more summer session next summer to get a full year in. Otherwise, if it's just 1 semester, I would think your 2 quarter classes would be fine.

Also agree that for the English requirement, a CC isn't a big deal. If it was for physics or o. chem, it might be a different story.

I'm not sure. I'm just referring to the English requirement for Medical school. Isn't the req 1 year? So meaning I would have to take three quarters of English?

Thanks for the advice peeps!
