Hi everyone,

I'm looking to take courses at a community college to fulfill my English requirements.
I was thinking of taking these classes offered at quinsigamond community college because I figured they'd help me with the verbal section.
ENG 090 Basic Reading Skills - 3 credits
ENG 091 Intermediate Reading Skills - 3 credits

My question is, does it matter what level of english classes I take?
Would it look better to take a little more advanced course such as ENG 101 English Composition & Literature I?

Every school varies in their requirements so you are going to have to do your research for each specific school. Most require courses in either composition or literature and some accept humanties classes with a writing emphasis.

I know you think you found an easy way to fulfill your dreaded english requirements, but don't you think "Basic reading skills" is a little transparent?

Hmm that's true, I think I'll take Eng101 and 102 to get a little reading and composition.

Thanks for the input 😀

Most colleges (community colleges included) don't even count 090 level courses towards graduation credits-they're considered remedial/high school level classes. Might as well go back to your high school and see if they'll let you sit in on an English class for all the help these would be. Serious "See Spot run. Run Spot, run!" stuff.
